The burning mouth syndrome or BMS is a painful and very frustrating condition often described as a blistering sensation in the tongue, lips, palate, or throughout the mouth. Burning mouth syndrome can affect anyone, it occurs commonly in a middle-age or older women. Burning mouth syndrome occurs with a wide range of dental and medical conditions. It is from nutritional deficiencies and menopause to dry mouth and allergies.

Some feels the pain constantly and some may feel the pain that come and goes. Those who have burning mouth syndrome may suffer from anxiety and depressions and may result to chronic pains. Other symptoms of burning mouth syndrome are tingling or numbness on the tip of the tongue or mouth, bitter or clanging changes in taste and the last is dry and sore mouth.

There are also some other ways to help heal your burning mouth syndrome just by your self. Drink water frequently to prevent them from drying. Suck on ice chips, this way you mouth will feel cool. Avoid foods that may irritate your mouth. Like hot and spicy foods, mouthwashes that have alcohol contain, and those drinks that are high in acid, just like citrus fruits and juices. Avoid chewing gums that are rich in sugar contains; take the gums with less sugar. Brush you teeth or denture with baking soda and water. And most especially avoid alcohol and tobacco that may not only cause burning mouth syndrome but is also not good in your health.
There is no way to prevent burning mouth syndrome. Avoiding some substances can decrease the risk in having a burning mouth syndrome. Stress can be a cause of this disorder, and using stress relief techniques can also help you avoid developing burning mouth syndrome. Being self-conscious and health conscious can be the way you can prevent or avoid from having a burning mouth syndrome disease. As everybody says, prevention is better than cure. Better think first before doing something that can harm your self. We must live a life healthy life for better person in every way.
